Burst of Autumn...
Fall leaves clutter the pathways
of the lives we have led;
brushed by the wind,
they scatter into a burst of gold and red.
Whispering and howling,
blustering and moaning,
falls winds do creep;
they batter at the window sills
and fill our sleep.
Locked in autumn's clutch,
the day's earthly portion
stolen fast by the greedy night,
sky choked by October's shroud,
there remains yet a warm speck of light,
a gift of the moon,
when the mysterious orb shines its brightest
to challenge the burst of red and gold
that ripens the meadows and fields below.
Gracefully, it shares its loving rays
that cut through the mist
to guide us along the pathways of our lives
in a circle that never ends
like the love shared
among family and friends.
I hope you have a happy autumn!
